Back in the 1920s and 30s, when Asian immigration to the US and Europe was picking up steam, prominent science fiction writers like Philip Nowlan and H.P. Lovecraft created speculative scenarios starring massive hordes of horrible, slanty-eyed, intelligent Asians who were either taking over or destroying the world. Lets look at this historic trend.

It’s been a bizarre day, answering questions about the U.S. moving ahead with approvals for irradiation on some leafy greens, and Canada moving backwards – really backwards – into political grandstanding while people suffer in an expanding listeria outbreak. The latest news is that five deaths are now being investigated and dozens of illnesses. This is just bizarre yet oddly funny way I was randomly catching up on my online news and this caught my eye. This was an old news that happened two years back. What a twist turn of events eh. I wonder how could one spiraled to murdering one spouse. Insurance claims perhaps? Oh blimey. I was aware of most of these huge disasters but not the cost to produce compared to earnings. The biggest shocker for me was the cost of Pluto Nash: THE ADVENTURES OF PLUTO NASH (2002) Budget: $100 million, US Box Office: $4.4 million In terms of sheer numbers, this flick is one of the biggest box-office flops in cinema history. Eddie Murphy was apparently so embarrassed by the end result that he refused to do any publicity for the movie. I will stand up for THE ADVENTURES OF BARON MUNCHAU
